Product Feature:
Free and paid versions
Password manager
Webcam spying protection
Shredder, firewall, and ransomware protection
Avast brands itself as a trendy anti-malware suite for gamers and other 30-somethings. It comes in three different versions, but the free option offers almost all of the core features of the two paid offerings. However, Avast’s helpful popups can be a little bit too helpful, and many experts feel that the premium version is a rip-off.
Avast consistently receives great scores from independent testing labs. It comes with a password manager, but this tool is relatively limited in the free version. In addition, Avast comes with tons of bonus features that you won’t find anywhere else.
For instance, this anti-malware program protects your webcam from spies, and it also scans your network for potential threats. This suite also offers plugins for major browsers that determine the safety of websites you visit.
The feature-to-value ratio for Avast, however, declines rapidly after you move past Avast Internet Security, which retails for $59.99 per year. Avast Premium costs $69.99 per year, but it doesn’t add much.

Avast is built on a solid foundation, and there’s no reason why you shouldn’t try the free version.
If you’re going to pay for an anti-malware suite, however, you can do better.
